Expert Reports

Whether you need to prove the solvency of your business or provide a report to assist in winding up proceedings, our team at Helm Advisory is wholeheartedly committed to helping you every step of the way.

What are expert reports?

A solvency or investigative report is compiled by an independent insolvency expert and provides a thoroughly researched assessment of a company’s historical or projected financial position. In most cases, the appointment of an independent insolvency expert is made by the solicitors acting for a party to proceedings in Court.

Why are expert solvency and investigative reports so important?

Expert reports, including solvency reports and investigative reports, are crucial as they are completed with absolute accuracy, ensuring all findings and investigations within a company are factually correct and up-to-date. In the field of insolvency – an arena that can be highly complex at times – this attention to detail and accuracy is essential. When our team at Helm Advisory prepare expert reports we state the findings and offer opinions to a number of questions which may involve assumptions.

3 ways an expert report can be used

Solvency and investigative reports can be used in many situations and may be requested by various interested stakeholders. Here are a few examples of how and when Helm Advisory would create an expert report:

  1. Solvency reports for companies: We provide these reports for businesses winding up proceedings.
  2. When solvency needs to be proven: In the case where companies or individuals are subject to voidable transaction claims, for example unfair preference claims and insolvent trading claims, Helm Advisory will create an expert report to prove a company’s solvency.
  3. Quantify a damages claim: An expert report is often required for Court proceedings to quantify the extent of a damages claim. This often results in the settlement of a claim.
